Bosch F220 Series Heat and Smoke Detectors

Bosch Security Systems has released the F220 Series heat and smoke detectors, combining new detector strategies such as photoelectric only, photoelectric with heat detection, photoelectric with carbon monoxide detection and a heat-only version. All of the detectors in the line feature an easily cleaned chamber that does not require the units to be disassembled. Bosch says the detectors automatically compensate sensitivity to contamination in the chamber, extending the time between cleanings and reducing false alarms.

The company also highlights the series’ CleanMe feature. This allows a control panel with CleanMe enabled to receive a signal from the detector letting it know the detector needs cleaning. CleanMe is activated with a magnet. Finally, a dual color LED indicates whether the detector is operating normally (green) or is in alarm (red). A line of 2- and 4-wire bases, including a separately powered sounder version, is available. www.bosch.com

Control Screening’s Explosives Detectors

Control Screening’s two types of explosives detectors are the Trace E 3500 Handheld Advance Chemilumina Explosives Detector and the Portable Explosives Detector, both from Scintrex Trace.

The company says the E 3500 is the only portable device capable of detecting the presence of all threat explosives, including ICAO taggants, military plastics and TATP. Meanwhile, it touts the EVD-2500 is the world’s lightest and most rugged portable trace explosives detector.

The E 3500 does not require radioactive sources or external carrier gases for use. Control Screening says its offers fast and stable detection with high selectivity for explosives and immunity to humidity or contamination problems. The device is designed for luggage, mail, vehicle, document and container searches.

The EVD-2500 is able to detect a range of explosives vapors including ICAO taggants, company officials say. Recent upgrades in sample collection and processing techniques have improved its sensitivity. Like the E 3500, no radioactive sources or external carrier gases are required for use. The unit is ready in 60 seconds and provides a response in 15 seconds. www.controlscreening.com

EST Genesis Alarms

Edwards Systems Technology (EST) has added multi-candela strobes, horn-strobes and chime-strobes to its Genesis line of fire alarm signals. Genesis devices measure about the size of a deck of playing cards. The new models feature four field-selectable strobe output settings, public or private mode flash rate, high or low dB sound levels, and temporal or steady horn output. Genesis says its strobes are made with EST’s exclusive FullLight technology to ensure even light distribution and viewing from just about any angle. www.est.net

Fire-Lite Alarms

Fire-Lite Alarms, part of Honeywell?s Fire Systems Group, offers addressable fire alarm control panels, including the MS-9200, MS- 9600 and MS-9200UD. All three panels feature advanced auto-programming capabilities, reducing installation time and overall cost. The MS-9200UD is the newest and, the company says, the most technologically advanced of the three panels. It features a built-in communicator, remote site upload/download capability and selectable strobe synchronization. The built-in communicator is compatible with 14 different formats, including the Ademco Contact ID, allowing the reporting of addressable point or software zone status without having to purchase an optional D.A.C.T.

Fire-Lite?s addressable panels allow a system to be autoprogrammed with the touch of a button. Each panel includes automatic detector test capability, drift compensation and maintenance alert.

The MS-9200 is designed for smaller buildings and supports up to 198 addressable devices on one loop. The MS-9600 works for an installation requiring more than 198 points. It comes standard with one Signaling Line Circuit (SLC) loop, which can handle up to 318 devices. If more devices are required, Fire-Lite advises adding one SLC loop card to gain an additional 318 devices. The MS-9600 can support up to 636 addressable devices on both loops. www.firelite.com

Gamewell IdentiFlex 602

The Gamewell Company, part of Honeywell?s Fire Systems Group and manufacturer of fire alarm control panels and emergency life safety systems, has introduced the latest in its 600 Series of control panels, the IdentiFlex (IF) 602. The IF602 is an addressable fire alarm control panel targeted toward small to medium-sized businesses.

Gamewell says the IF602 uses SmartLink peer-topeer protocol to connect up to 250 network nodes. The IF602 uses analog sensors, addressable input and control interface devices, and remote status and control capabilities. Fully digital single or dual SLCs support up to126 analog points each for event reporting. The IF602?s SmartStart feature identifies and configures system modules, circuits and devices to default alarm mode. Once initiated, an entire system can be brought online in less than a minute, Gamewell says. www.gamewell.com

Keltron Life Safety System

Keltron Corp.’s PC-based LS 7000 life safety event management system delivers alarm monitoring, response and dispatch services through a Windows-based management system.

Keltron says the system can receive alarms from multiple FACPs and from various industry standard technologies such as active network radio, distributed multiplex, digital alarm communicator/receiver, direct connect and coded signal inputs. The technology also provides programmable outputs.

The LS 7000 allows remote programming and diagnostics, saving dealers time and manpower on installation and maintenance. The familiar Windows operating system is intended to reduce operator-training time and increase accuracy by providing the operator with event type, location and hazard information, and suggesting the most appropriate response strategy.

The LS 7000 contains a number of new hardware features, including 8.4-inch diagonal TFT color display with optional touch screen, mounting in a standard 19-inch rack and LAN interface so desktop PCs can be networked as remote operator workstations. www.keltroncorp.com
