Memory Experts International (MXI), designers and manufacturers of memory, hard drive subsystems and networking technologies, has released its latest product, the biometric USB Outbacker.
Outbacker, the 3 x 5 inch hard disk drive, comes in two sizes: 20 and 40 gigabytes. Both versions come with 128 bit AES encryption capability, fingerprint biometric access control, PIN pad security and USB 2.0 connectivity. The Outbacker is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/98SE.
"Outbacker's huge storage capacity and ultra-fast data writing means you can quickly and easily package your entire desktop, all your Internet favorites, your documents and your e-mail files, on a single, secure and completely mobile device," says Mike Kieran, director of sales and marketing at MXI. "We have a backlog of interest from large enterprises and government organizations, particularly the military, because of the potential applications this device holds."
The Outbacker’s multi-layer security can ease worry about device theft. The technology stores up to 10 fingerprints, so multiple users can access the device using their individual PINs.
