Belden CDT Electronics Division, a unit of Belden CDT Inc. and a developer of specialty cable products, has introduced its new generation Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) composite cables for security installations. The Siamese and round composite cable constructions allow the installer to pull one cable -- providing video, control and power functionality for pan/tilt/zoom cameras.

The new UTP composite cables are ideal for use in closed circuit TV (CCTV) installations in offices, universities and correctional facilities, as well as in public spaces such as hospitals, airports, sports stadiums, casinos and amusement parks, the company says. UTP cables are smaller than coaxial cables, making cable density less of a problem. They also are easier to terminate, which speeds installation, according to the company.
